Hello Sader,

I just tried to create a class and then rename it by right clicking the
selected class and choosing Change IRI (Rename) Ctrl-U and I could change
the name of the class. It also has the option (change for all entities with
this URI) .

Just check again.

Best wishes,

Aparna
Hello,
I use protege 5.0.0. beta 17, and want to rename a class.
When highlighting the class, and then: "Refactor" -> "Rename entity", I
can enter a new name,
but it creates a NEW class and does not rename the old class.
What is wrong here?

Thank you for your answer.
But the right click does not show any option at all...
I click on the class, then "Refactor" and "rename entity" (or Ctrl+u), and
the window with "change entity URI" appears. I enter the new name, click on
save, and a NEW class with this name is created, but the old one has still
it's old name...
Do you know any help?

Hi Sader,

I did the samething what you told without using right click. Then also it
is working. I guess you uninstall or remove the current version and again
download the protege 5.0.0 from the website and install all updates.
If you have already created ontology then just keep the owl file and open
it in the newly installed version of protege.
I have downloaded the latest version and it is working fine. I hope this
helps.

Best,
A

Please use the latest Protege release and not a Beta version.

Indeed, the latest version is 5.1.0, and it was released a week ago. It
has many improvements compared to previous versions.

However, the rename entity should have worked in all previous versions
of Protege. I am quite curious which version of Protege you had before,
where this problem occurred. Maybe it was only a refresh issue (note:
you can force the refreshment of the UI with Window -> Refresh User
Interface).

If you install the new version of Protege it is recommended that you
reset the layout through the Window -> Reset selected tab to default
state menu, to take advantage of the improved Entities tab.
